ROOM NO 207 MR SRINIVASA MURUGESAN FROM TUTICORIN

Room no 207 Mr. Srinivasa Murugesan, room no 207, from Tuticorin..

jk's partner as he shares the same b'day with jk,and also a partner to us as we all share the same cigarette most of the time. one cant say how an entire packet of cigarettes would go missin when srini is smokin with us. such a patient guy whom i had never seen with rising tempers.most of the time he would share jk's room for sleepin, and his room in the hostel is something like his guest house where he would make an occassional visit - that too only when he needs to take something from that room. other times he would be seen sleepin in ganja's room. as in the words of ganja "half-a-feet of space is enough for this guy to lay himself down, and once he lays himself down, it's never possible to clear him off that space". he should best be called " silent srini ", as he is silent for most part of the time. no one except kannan would have expected him to be a dancer till the day he made a few exceptionally good moves in my room. only on that day did we all come to know that he was a dancer. his comedies during the late night parties are good memories.nice care taker for all our guys. he took care of me whenever i tore my already torn shoulder muscles. he also takes care of whoever is in pain in the hostel. but for most part of his free day time, he would be engaged in an activity which our ganja would call " srini has gone for service ".

we all had a nice time and hospitality in his home when a pack of us went there after attendin kannan's sisters marriage for our night's halt. cant forget that night out for many reasons. hope all the ones who were present there would remember it for the rest of their lives.

ROOM NO 209 MR SRIDHAR FROM KALPAKKAM

Room no.209, Mr.Sridhar from Kalpakkam...

cant recollect my first conversation with him. sri got close to me cos of our naattamai arun...if we are to talk of him we can talk a lot... really a lot... can type for pages and pages, and all of that stuff will be interesting, no doubt...donno how he managed to finish Bcom and also MBA... i said this because of his enthusiasm for science... in aruns room he used to narrate his experiences inside the kalpakkam plant with such levels of enthusiasm that the moment he goes full steam, he couldnt even see whether people are around him to hear what he says... just that lonely unlucky arun sittin in front of him would fall in his eyes... the rest of the other guys would sneak out of the room sooner or later the lecture starts... our naattamai cant sneak out as it happens to be his room. his narration would normally start by about 9 or 9.30pm after our refreshing dinner at our RLIMS mess (yeah only now i can figure out from where sri has gained that extra bit of energy boosters to go ahead with his narration).. . the narration would go jus la that to anytime like midnight...

his overall style of narration is very nice... but in particular the one thing i like the most in his narration is the expressions he brings about in his face... jus like a kid he makes use of sound effects like "dum" "damaar" "busss" "soyyynnnn.. ." and so on to add to the thrill and enthu in his narration... (pattasu I ask u a question at this moment tell me "is this why u gave him the name 'chinna payal' "?... not only does his talk stop inside the kalpakkam plant, it also goes to topics like aeroplanes, cars, rifles, pistols, machine guns, automobiles, and so on... on a normal day we used to gather in the panchayath room (room no.6) whenever we are free. undoubtedly there used to be atleast half a kg of mixture and some other snacks to refresh ourselves... its here where sri talks of his experiences. .. he alone knows his love affair with that mixture... accordin to him "a gatherin is incomplete without half a kg of mixture atleast"...

he is so crazy about the brand "zingaro"... and i would say it with pride that i was the one who opened for him, his first ever bottle... sri, i cant forget that late night party in our hostel da... gotta thank u alone for that... some of the arguments he had had with guys like ganja, jp, jacks, abhi, raju, patna, etc are still there in my mind... but only those ones with jp & ganja are more interesting to me, but cant say exactly why... for most of our class mates, the only thing that comes to our mind when we think of him would undoubtedly be that "kurta" or "jippa" or whatever u call it... when i stayed in his room for our convocation i saw that jippa in his cupboard. when i asked him whether he still preserves it he said "i dont wear it nowadays, but still i preserve it mama. cos it brings back our college memories"...one such guy who remembers the past and never forgets a thing of the past. one such guy who shares with all every small development in his life... has a good level of helping tendancy and helps all the way he can...

just for the one u r sri, i cant forget u for my entire life... hope u too enjoyed this autogaph da sri...

if anything missin then sorry dear lakshyans, but u kindly add them to this section to add to the enthu of the group...

ROOM NO 211 RAMASAMY FROM COURTALLAM

Room no.211., ramji @ second hand ramasamy @ Mr.S.Ramasamy from 'near courtallam'. ..

our honourable president "generous" (kodai vallal) Lakshmipathy is his periyappa. so he is a big shot in our college campus. sorry da ramasamy, unga periappava patthi thappa sollitten, kovichukkadhe.on seein him, guys would think that he is just another normal guy. but his apetite is not a normal one. he has won the first place in anjac college for eatin around 80 idlies in jus an hour. dai ramasamy why dont u share with all of us about ur experience in that competition da?in anjac, his ug college, the physical education department guys would work out right from early morning and during breakfast each would eat around 30 to 40 idlies. but our great ramasamy doesnt need such a heavy work out. he would go straight from bed and compete with them in the mess. he is one of the kind, and no one can beat him in this aspect...thought he's only a voracious eater? he's an even more voracious sleeper. god i just cant understand how on earth can a person sleep like a log for days together.

he used to sleep for days together during our study holidays and also on holidays.

he would wake up only to have his meals and then as usual, start sleeping. eppadi da ramasamy?

i can forget anything about ramasamy, but not this... the second sunday after

joining rlims, me, jp and pollachi vivek were guided by the great 2nd had ramasamy to meenakshi amman temple. we went with him as he said he knew the way to the temple. he was about to take us inside the "thanga regal theatre" when suddenly i realised it and pulled him to the other side of the road.while in the second year, one fine morning i had a dream. in that dream, i was standing in queue in perumal temple, and got a cup of pongal. i took a little of it and was about to put that in my mouth when suddenly someone snatched that pongal and ran away from me. i chased that guy, and he turned back to see me. man, that was none other than our ramasamy. i shouted while chasin him.just at that moment i heard a heavy knock in my room door. the conversation goes like this...

the knocker : mama wake up its nearly 6.30...

L mama : who is it...

the knocker : its me mama, mr.s.ramasamy from near courtallam.. . (i went nuts at this, may be because of the dream i had.)

L mama : poda kena @#$%^& *)@$(@#% (and many more bad words)...

ramasamy : poda loose mama, unne poi eluppinen paaru, ennai seruppala adikkanum...

that day i felt bad, and apologised to him after classes in the hostel. i had to tell him about my dream, and why i went nuts, cos that was the truth, and i had no other go. now it was his turn to go nuts. he shouted at me sayin "yo manushana ya nee? vaaya kaluvu. just today morning i had a dream where i rise to the level of bill gates. but you dreamt about me to the level of pongal in

perumal temple?"...

what am i to do da ramasamy? dreams come just like that...

he was the hot talk of the hostel after 'Q'shetra'04 was over. he was in the tirunelveli group. one fine night,in the hotel where they went to have their dinner, he summoned the bearer and the dialogue between them goes like this...

ramasamy: bearer...

bearer : yes sir...

ramasamy: what is the costliest item in this hotel?...

bearer: sir, its the cashew nut dosa...

ramasamy: aan, bring one plate of that item to my table...

ranjith sir(to himself): huh what a mistake have i made in takin up the

responsibility of organising this event? if this guy contiue to eat this way then

i have to pay the excess amount from my pocket...

his participation in 5 or 6 such events would have made his periappa a pauper. but thank god, only one such was there.one fine evening in the hostel weeks after joining the hostel he had a conversation with pattasu in the panchayat room, and that goes like this...

ramasamy: kavidhai eludharadhu ellam oru kalai, but adhai padichu artham purinjukkaradhu innoru kalai. what do u say?

pattasu: aamaam ne, sariya sonneenga ne. kavidhai ellam neenga padippeengala?

ramasamy: naanga ellam kavidhainu padicha adhu Mu.Metha kavidhaiya thaan padippom.

pattasu: avanga name'a avanga kavidhaikku keela thaane eludhuvaanga ne?

ramasamy: aamaa, appuram?

pattasu: sari, padichadhukku appurama adhu Mu.Metha kavidhai illainu therinja

padichadhai vaandhi eduthuduviya? poyya...

ramasamy: ???...

average shuttle player, but poses as though he's a great one... infact his name

'second hand ramasamy' came to him from the shuttle court. when we were playin doubles game, he repeatedly got the second hand serve. while sayin the scores, i said fast 'second hand ramasamy', which stuck on him. dont worry da ramasamy, u'll now be famous with that name, and thank me for all the fame you've got  out of the name... but am damn angry on this guy for one reason... howmuch ever cigarettes i buy for the night, and wherever i hide them in my room, he would find them and donate them to the smokers...  he has sponsored 'kodari thailam' when we needed it while smokin... but ganja would be even more angry on me and ramasamy for converting his room into a massage parlour...

ROOM NO 212 Mr. RAHUL RAGHUNATH FROM COCHIN

Room no.212., Mr.Rahul Raghunath @ cochin cowboy from cochin... (dont ask me who gave him such a name, it was he who gave himself such a name)...

the guy who has promised to walk on 4 legs on my marriage...met him well before our college days - in the GD itself, where rahul, gayathri and myself were in the same group...i missed the first 2 days of the classes due to various reasons, and when i entered the college campus, i had reservations as to how am i to mingle with the other guys, and it was only when i entered the hostel and saw this guy comin out of the carrom board room did i say to myself 'hey there's no need to worry, here's a guy whom i know'... the very next minute he took my charger from me...on the same day, i asked him his phone number for savin it in my mobile. the moment i asked his number, he said 'hey gimme a minute, i'll give u my number' and ran out of his room. i was wonderin where he went to get his phone number, and out of curiosity i came out of his room to know where he went.he was in front of his next room which happens to be patna wala's room, askin patna what his (rahul's) phone number was. patna, a stubborn guy, was sayin "think. think rahul. its ur number, and dont u remember ur own number? whats this?"... then after a lot of pleadin, he was finally able to get his own phone number and give it to me. tell me this one rahul, had it been the phone number of a gal would u have forgotten it?from that day onwards, we both are goin well without a single quarrel... am amused how on earth did this happen as i always quarrel more with my close ones...

he calls himself a 'nike man'... and to prove this, he snatched a nike T-shirt from me (which he never returned till date, and will never in future), and the following monday he went to madurai all in nike outfits - nike cap, nike T-shirt, nike bag and nike shoes... tell me rahul, from whom did u snatch the other ones, and did u return atleast those to their respective owners...he is the king of RLIMS when it comes to frying groundnuts.. . one can see him always fryin groundnuts inside the college campus and also outside the campus on outing days... once inside the hostel, he can be seen frying groundnuts over the cell phone...may be he would have thought all this stuff was not enough for him, during the first year he would snatch my cell phone for chattin through sms all night long(as aircel offered free sms internationally) - that too with a foreign gal... donno from where he met her... is it still goin on rahul???...like me, he's crazy about cars, bikes and all other automobiles. .. his dream? to work for dilip chabbria!!! his dream job? to sell merc cars...

has an awful amount of helping tendancy, but helps mainly girls. would help the guys only if there are no gals around him to ask help...nowadays he has become a hardcore employee of naukri.com, and he bets that naukri is the coolest place on earth to work...rahul, cant forget that break fast in ur home when we went to cochin for talentime da... the taste of that delicious puttu, kadalai curry, poori masal, and that boiled banana still lingers in my tongue da... wish to come again to ur home just to taste those dishes again...that dinner which we (u, kellu, abhi, raju and myself) had while i came to cochin, and the dinner we both had in coimbatore on my previous birthday are still in my mind da rahul... as fresh as ever...even fresh are those lakshya'05 memories, ascend'04(calicut) memories...those memories of mafoi classes where we racked the brains out of sarah ma'am, that rajavilas party, those late night parties in the hostel, the party the day b4 feroz marriage... all are wonderful memories da...huh, that lakshya'05 memories... u and i, co-ordinators of marketing game, and the fun u made claiming urself to be a good dancer, and tryin ur foot in dancin on the stage... all are good memories da... i still have that video of u dancin with vijay and silu which makes me laugh out like hell...anyway da rahul, its a wonderful friendship u share all these days with me, and hope the same goes on till we dig our graves...

ROOM NO.213, Mr.SANTOSH FROM PATNA

Room No.213, Mr.Santosh Kumar from Patna Bihar...

right on the first day of me joinin the hostel, rahul introduced him to me, and he shook hands with me sayin 'hi, i'm santosh kumar from patna bihar'... luckily he told me that patna is in bihar, else i would have thought that patna was somewhere near new york or paris...one of the most seniors in the class... rumours are there that his year of birth is 1976... but he strongly insists that its 1979...he's very very particular about the spellin of his name SANTOSH KUMAR... when guys used to spell his name as SANTHOSH instead of SANTOSH, he'll go damn nuts and would indulge in a war of words with those who have mis-spelt his name... he'll say "dont u guys know that we north indians dont use the letter 'H' in our names? arey yaar am santosh not santhosh as u south indians spell it"...i had also been a victim myself many times... dont worry mr.santosh, i have spelt it right this time. so u cant go nuts on me now...during arul velans class, when any talk comes about chemicals, he would jump up and give a mini lecture about the chemical and its properties and its hard to stop him... while arul velan tries his best to make patna stop his lecture, i just used to sit and wonder what chemicals got to do in economics class...his famous and frequent sayin "no no, this is not goin to help u in the corporate".. .raja is the only guy who has tortured him like anything with these words... while in cochin, raja sent sms after sms to patna readin "no no, this is not goin to help u in the corporate".. . nearly some 200 sms i think...patna shouted at raja and even scolded him, but raja kept on smiling and continued sendin sms after sms... patna dint know what do to as his cell kept on buzzin with the sms alert tone, he jus grumbled "what am i to do with this guy? what sort of a character is he"...the first thing about him that comes to the minds of hostellers is that he sings in the hostel... may be he sings to keep away his loneliness.. .its a real hard time to keep our cool when he is inside the hostel... simple reason is that he sings most of the time, and that too he sings those songs in a loud tone... some hindi songs whose meaning none of us know... to add more fun, he dances at times to his songs with that 'hey hey heeeyyyyy' yell...many hostellers made many attempts to keep him away from singing... for example our abhi used to stick paper cuttings in the bathroom doors, mirrors, washing place, etc., which reads out 'thank u for not singing'... but no attempt brought in any results, leave alone the point of bringin in desired results...

for nearly a year and a half, we had a hard time... but one fine morning, something drastic had happened which brought in desired results, and that too from a person whom we least expected to bring in results...we were in the bathroom waitin for our turn to take bath, and some were washin clothes as we were supplied water only for an hour in the morning durin those days... so within an hour everything like washin and bathin has to be done, and also have to be in the class before 7am... so needless to say u can understand our rush durin that hour...this gentleman somehow rushed to the bathroom earlier, and as usual started singin in a high pitch... all of a sudden our ganja started to sing or if not yell at the pitch of his voice "naaaaaan paaaaaaadum mouna raaaaaaagam ketkavillayaaaaaa" ... this turned off the guy. but, ganja continued "ennnnnnn kaaaaaadhallll raaaaaani innnnnnummmmmm thoooooooongavillll layaaaaaaaa" ...with this he was totally turned off, and we were happy altogether and started applaudin ganja in the pitch of our voices, which made patna leave the bathroom in a hurry...

while in our second year my brother had been on an industrial visit to new delhi... i was sharin this piece of info with someone while havin our dinner in the mess...just then patna who was in the next table called me and talked with a high enthu "hey karthik, is ur brother in new delhi now? oooooow what a place delhi is. you know karthik...." jus then abhi interupted callin me in a hurried tone "L mama L mama, dont talk about new delhi with this guy, he'll talk as though new delhi is his ancestral property"...abhi,whether patna is angry on u for this or not, am damn angry on u now for not lettin me hear what he said of delhi which could have added some more interestin stuff to this stuff...

there are times when i have seen the other side of patna wala... seriously he's gotta good amount of helpin tendancy - when u ask for his help... if asked, then he'll help u the way he can...very very enthusiastic person when it comes to competition. have teamed with him in many competitions, missed some and won some... he was damn upset when we lost in the final round quiz in virudhunagar by un-justifiable means... when we won in calicut's brand warriors, he was soooooooo jubilant when the results were announced...even though were runners in that competition, he was on the stage to receive the shield even before the winners were on the stage to receive their shield... such is his level of enthusiasm.. . kinda never endin enthusiasm.. .those guys who were in the coimbatore team of Q'shetra would know his level of enthusiasm in organisin that event...

a very very serious character when exams start... our hostellers call him a   'head banger' as he bangs his head all through the night to study...the night before the exam he would never leave his hostel room other than for two reasons... either he would be out for havin his meals or he would be out to answer the natures call...he would just spare some ten minutes for discussin the previous years 1 mark questions which we all sit together and discuss the night before the exam... the moment its over, he would rush to his room, lock the door, and as usual, start bangin his head...another interestin thing about him is that he takes a bottle of hot water from the mess after dinner to his room, and there he would prepare horlicks with that hot water... when i asked him one day whats so special about that horlicks, he said 'my horlicks, my mothers love'... he also showed his cup-board piled with some 6 or 7 packs of horlicks...monday after monday, the sun may fail to rise, rlims may fail to grant us a holiday. but santosh never fails to wash his room... he would pour bucket after bucket of water on the floor of his room... water would be flowin through the entire corridor... when guys argued with him for this, he coolly said "u people are not hygienic yaar... what am i to do for that"...

ROOM NO.214, Mr.VIVEK FROM POLLACHI

Room no.214, Mr.Vivek from Pollachi...

like me, he too joined 2 days after the first day of college...

all the while he says am the king frier in RLIMS, thats real, but that speaks only half the truth... the whole truth is that he is the king-maker in fryin groundnuts.. .

mechanical engineer... very enthusiastic when we ask him to share things related to mechanics... got an award from his ug college for his project work... the shield was kept on his table for some time...

when he showed that shield to the other guys in the hostel, ganja pestered him askin "dai vivek, tell me the truth. how much did u pay for this shield, and from where u got this" when someone shouted "Rs.300/-", ganja again started pesterin him "dai vivek i'll pay u Rs.301/- for this shield, kindly give that to me"... pollachi went nuts and started shoutin at him in some words which i cant type here...

talks a lot abot body building, but i have never seen him excercising. ..

stays in his room for most of the time bangin his head over text books...

nothin more comes to my mind as he has been a mystery to me...
