A LAKSHYA TV PRESENTATION

Sunday 31 May 2009

PREFACE

I've been reading lots of magazine for ages and of late there is one section where they have articles by famous personalities about their college days. Invariably each person writes how they were good at that and good at this and how their college had all types of students.

I was not a great student. I was intelligent but not hardworking. The last time that I got first rank in class was when I was in first standard (I even got a double promotion then). But that was it. I've even failed many times (CA exams). I was not good at sports or anything else. But yes, I have been on stage quite a few times and I should say that I had no stage fear whatsoever.

I've bunked class when I was in just 9th standard. I've been punished quite a few times for not doing the homework and not bringing the notebooks. My Mom always hated to come to any Parent-Teacher's meeting because she had to listen to complaints about me. I always sat in the front bench and managed to chat away to everyone else.

Even when I was 1st standard, I am told that I was made to sit close to the teacher facing the class because if I sat with the rest of the crowd I would talk with everyone and disturb them.

But beyond everything, I was still my teacher's pet. In fact each one of us were our teacher's pet. My teachers never treated me different because I did not work hard or because I was mischievous.

In college life was different. Even there I did not work hard enough, I was not the topper and I did not do anything great. The only best part was me being a part of LAKSHYA was famous in college for all wrong reasons. But still I had my own favourite lecturers and they liked me too.

I was not one of those "good boys". I had loads of friends, I have bunked classes, gone to a movie during class time, slept in class and have even made lecturers cry. We've jumped over hostel gates, fought with the hostel warden, ragged the juniors and done what not. We were very naughty, had great fun, were not always the first rank holders and even after all that today we not in a bad shape in life. If I had to win a bet I wouldn't hesitate to study and score the top marks and I have done that too. I've been the best when I wanted and I've been the worst too!

Well, I’m sure every body might have similar feelings and experiences to share. Hope this work would bring in some of the sweet memories of our hostel life in RLIMS. Enjoy friends and contribute more autographs of  other friends and faculties. Almost 99 percentage of this work is contributed by our one and only “L MAMA”.  I, on behalf of Lakshyans, appreciate the great work of L mama.

All the best guys, have a great time…

ROOM NO 201 JAYAPRAKASH FROM CUDDALORE

Room no.201, jp@ jaya prakash from cuddalore....

loves the hostel very much, and thats the reason why he joined the hostel 2 days in advance, and left after 2 days from the date of his last exam.

great musician, specialised in playin the music of bangin the rlims mess chappathi on to his plate.

nice dress sense, and a person with a show room of dress materials in his room. name a brand, and one can find that brand in his ward robe.

average shuttle and cricket player, found most of the time in hostel in the shuttle court. buys a new pair of sports shoe for every tournament. helpin tendancy - searches for assignment in google, and also helps others in searchin for materials in google. also offers lime water to everyone in the hostel in the night.

loves travellin, especially between madurai and eliyarpatthi. if one can try his/her hand in countin the number of times he had travelled between these two destinations, he ranks second only to the city corporation buses.

his 2 birthday parties were memorable to all hostellers.

has the ability to judge whether a bus is from the stables of ashok leyland or from that of the tatas just by the sound of the bus.

soloist, thanimayil inimai kaanbavar. moves with a selected few people, and i'm one among the selected lot.

when he gets angry and starts blastin in the hostel veranda, no one dares to hear what he says, no matter whether he is shoutin at u or not.

ROOM NO 202 MR VENGATESH FROM ERODE

Room no.202, mr. vengatesh from erode.

A staunch gandhian, but eats non-vegetarian food to his hearts content. he is our hostel's bruce lee

though his room number is 202, u can never find him in that room, as it'll be locked for most part of the time. he can be found most of the time in room number 217. no one in the hostel knows when he'll open his room. if u happen to check his room check record, he would have scored excellent every time as nothin in his room would be touched, and hence the things in his room would be neatly in order.

he's so proud of his native erode that he claims erode is the only indian city whose name is found in all dictionaries, but with a different pronounciation.

crazy about fm radios and walkmans, and music. he hears music in a mild sound while studyin. a wanna be perfectionist, but the sad part is that he is not one.

all the while says he's from a poor family, but buys everything of high brands - dove soap, lee-cooper shoes, and so on.

ROOM NO 203, MR ABHILASH RAJ FROM PATHANAMTHITTA

Room no.203, mr.abhi @ captain gonsalvez from patthanamthitta.

very well known for his handwritin, and creative thoughts. one of the most seniors in the class.

his ideas of puttin up a notice board in the hostel, kadala stock exchange and KSE indexes in the notice board were really interestin in the hostel.he makes fun of all those who fry groundnuts, but he's a smart frier. he fries more groundnuts than the other guys through the net and he's smart enough to hide it from the other guys, except a few, and am one among them.

in the hostel he is known for that red bucket and blue t-shirt. goes to the mess for dinner everyday with his shirt tucked in like the englishmen does. he has been my guru who taught me all the bad words in malayalam. i've gotta be grateful to u for that abhi.

an average dancer, but only those who have attended the party in raja vilas - (the tiffin stall opposite to rlims) know that he is a dancer. he can be made to dance by merely touchin his hips in a rhythm - but try it if and only if u r darin enough to hear his abuses on you.

a very enthusiastic person when it comes to partyin and enjoyin. no one who attended the party in rajavilas could forget him for the rest of their lives. such is his level of enthusiasm.

he has a stock of medicines in his cup-board. a stock so huge that he can even start a pharmacy. god alone knows why so many medicines, and he alone knows whether he really takes those medicines or not.

he also has a stock of ink-pens, each one for a purpose he says.

he likes brinjals very much ( hope u can understand what i meant to say abhi ).

ROOM NO 204, MR KARTHIK FROM CHINNALAPATTI

Room no.204, mr.j.karthik from chinnalacity @ chinnalapatti.

he wants the name of his native to be called as chinnalacity rather than chinnalapatti.

has been the back bone of both the versions of lakshya. whenever we go for any inter-collegiate meet, we all used to watch the gals over there, but this guy is an exception. he used to watch the stage, gallery, and they way they have oranised things, so that he can have some input for lakshya.

he and i are one and the same when it comes to the costumes we wear in the hostel, and also when it comes to blastin at others without any reason or for a small reason.

a very enthusiastic person when it comes to enjoyin and partyin. equally enthusiastic like abhi, but also gives creative ideas to make the fun better. his ideas like birthday bumps, bucket collection system, etc for celebratin birthdays made the fun memorable.

very helpin minded. a person who is ready to offer any help within his reach to any person.

one can find his room stuffed with magazines like business world, competition success, and so on.

his room is the smokers cabin, and bar for us. one can find all the smokers in his room smokin, and the empty bottles of all brands of drinks available in the market.

gettin engaged to his lover soon, and would be a family man... lets wish him all the good in the world...

ROOM NO 205 KELVIN JOSE FROM PALA

Room no 205 kellu@kelvin. k.jose, from pala, kottayam...

one can be announced a gift if he/she can produce any evidence of kelvin goin to class with a text book or a note book in his hand. if at all one had seen him enter with a text or a note, then it's definitely somebody else's.once during the end of our course, our professor Dr.P.C.Sekar begged him "kelvin, this is gonna be my last session for ur class, and i havent seen u writin a single word right from ur first class. wont you gimme the privileage of seein u write something atleast today"...

he is one of the most dreaded guys in the hostel. guys fear him for his borrowals. cant find a single guy in the hostel from whom he has never borrowed a thing.the hardest part comes while gettin back the borrowed things from him. he uses his words in such a way that one cant say a "NO" to his borowal requests. thats his strength and our weakness.

our one and only JP knows the best, as he had suffered more than anyone in the hostel, who eventually quit the attempt empty handed.

once a while he goes home, and would normally return during early morning. once the hostelites hear of his arrival, they would gather around his room well before his arrival. if u think its to greet or welcome him, then i'm sorry for u, its for collectin the money which he had borrowed from thsem some time back, as its the only time you can collect the money from him. but the other side of the coin is interestin about him. an excellent shuttle player, outstandin quizzer who along with JK made a winning combination both in the participation as well as in organisin quiz events. they have received a good response from the participants as well as from the 'O'dience. to the best of my knowledge, hasnt lost his temper even once in our college days. hope the same from u kelvin after readin this one of mine...
